How to install Windows 7 without DVD drive
Microsoft released Windows 7 RC (pre-release) which you can download and get product keys at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/download.aspx before July 30, 2009.
Their is two different versions Windows 7 – 32 bit and 64 bit which is different in maximum memory capacity can Windows handled. If your laptop has RAM more than 3 GB and have 64 bit CPU, we recommended to install 64 bit version to be able to maximize memory utilizing. Windows 7 has been mentioned that it will be the best Microsoft Windows, test it by yourself. If you use netbooks or no DVD drive laptop, it has the problem that Window 7 required a copied DVD to install. However, there is unofficial method to install it in your laptops. Easy? Yes, very easy steps. No DVD required? Yes, no DVD or additional device at all. Here is the instruction to install Windows 7 without DVD drive.
- Check laptop’s specification is meet the system requirement
- CPU: faster than 1 GHz
- RAM: 1 GB (Windows 7 – 32 bit version) / 2 GB (Windows 7 – 64 bit version)
- Hard drive: 16 GB (Windows 7 -32 bit version) / 20 GB (Windows 7 -64 bit version)
- Graphics: DirectX 9 compatible graphics
- Download a Windows 7 .iso file from here . File size is about 3 GB (don’t forget to write or print product key).
- Mount Windows 7 .iso file with DVD mounting software such as Nero, Daemon tool (you can download Daemon tool here) which help to emulate DVD from .iso file.
- Create a new folder in hard drive for store all file from emulated DVD such as
“Windows 7″ and copy all files in emulated DVD drive to “Windows 7″ folder in hard drive. - Restart laptop, while in boot screen (blank black screen) ,press F8 key repeatedly until show options that have one option to start windows in “command prompt”.
- While in command prompt , type “c:\windows 7″ or other folder you store Windows 7 files.
- Do installation as usual
This method has other benefit by not to burn a DVD (save money).
